Allegheny County’s elections board officially signed off Monday on results from last month’s primary.

The board — composed of County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and current and former county councilors Tom Duerr and Cindy Kirk — voted unanimously to certify results from the county’s 1,324 election precincts.

Board members thanked the elections staff for their work and making sure nearly all results were available on Election Day.

David Voye, who runs the elections office, said mailings would be sent to winning write-in candidates, and they will have three weeks to accept a party nomination. The most high-profile write-in candidate is Stephen Zappala Jr., the longtime district attorney who lost the Democratic nomination but won a write-in Republican bid.

The county executive is typically joined on the elections board by the two councilors elected on a countywide basis, Democrat Bethany Hallam and Republican Sam DeMarco III. But both Hallam and DeMarco face voters this year, and the county’s home rule charter doesn’t allow for candidates to also be on the board.

Duerr and Kirk will serve on the board through certification of the Nov. 7 general election.
