We have some new items added to this week’s traffic disruptions. Here goes:
- Interstate 79 – The ramp from northbound I-79 to the westbound Parkway West in Robinson will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Crews will be cutting the road surface with a saw and patching the shoulder. A detour will be posted. The work is part of a $15 million project to improve I-79 from the Parkway West-Airport-Pittsburgh interchange to one-half mile north of the Route 60 Moon Run-Crafton interchange.
- Forbes Avenue – Traffic will be a mess around Carnegie Mellon University from about 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday because of President Donald Trump’s visit for the energy and AI summit. Buses that use Forbes Avenue that are expected to have detours include Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s 28X; 58; 61A, B, C and D; 67; and 69; and Westmoreland Transit’s Route 4. Riders should allow additional time and be aware that times and restrictions could change throughout the day. For details on PRT detours, go to https://www.rideprt.org/Detours/.
- Mt. Royal Boulevard – An improvement project with overnight work from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. will begin Tuesday and cause single-lane alternating traffic in Hampton and Shaler until late November. The work will be between Route 8 and Grant Avenue. Flaggers will assist with traffic control. There will be intermittent daytime restrictions as well.
