Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy will host its final family day of the season from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday at Schenley Plaza in Oakland.
The first Spooktacular Family Day guests can enjoy a not-so-scary ride on the specially decorated for the season PNC Carousel, according to a news release, and meet frightful friends Jack, Sally and Mr. Oogie for photos and treats from noon to 2 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to come dressed in costume to celebrate the day and capture memories with ghoulish guests.
The festivities continue with the Azure Monster Bash Concert from 2 to 3 p.m. under the Schenley Plaza Tent, where Anton DeFade’s Half Step All-Stars will perform classic spooky tunes for a lively dance party.
Following the concert, children will have the chance to try out instruments at an interactive petting zoo.
Peoples Gas has supported the family days this year in the city parks, according to the release. In 2025, the series expanded beyond Schenley Plaza to Allegheny Commons Park and Riverview Park.
Schenley Plaza is located at 4100 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh 15213. Information on the conservancy’s family days is available on its website.
The PUP is the publication of the striking workers at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
