It will be a busy week on area roads with project changes and lane restrictions in every direction as the construction season moves toward its end.

Here’s where you can expect delays in the coming days:

  • Baldwin Street — This Bridgeville street will close at 9 a.m. Monday so crews can remove sediment, repair concrete and do other work at McLaughlin Run Bridge No. 6. Residents on Baldwin will have access to their homes during the project, which will last into November. A detour using McLaughlin Run Road, Bower Hill Road and Railroad Street will be posted. The bridge is used by an average of 3,155 vehicles a day and is rated in fair condition.
  • Talbot Avenue — Demolition begins Monday on this ramp from Kenmawr Avenue under the Rankin Bridge in Rankin to Talbot Avenue at Fleet Street in Rankin at the Braddock border. The demolition is expected to last until early next year. Allegheny County completed replacing the ramp from Kenmawr to Braddock Avenue earlier this year, but the Talbot ramp isn’t expected to be replaced until spring 2028. Traffic will be directed to Talbot from Fourth Street in Braddock while the ramp is closed.
  • Fort Duquesne Bridge — The ramp from inbound Route 65 to the Fort Duquesne Bridge will continue to be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday for bridge deck and barrier repair work. The ramps from Allegheny Avenue, Ridge Avenue and Reedsdale Street to the bridge also will be closed. Detours will be posted. Also, single-lane restrictions will occur as needed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays so crews can repair concrete on the underside of the bridge on West General Robinson Street, Reedsdale Street, Tony Dorsett Drive and North Shore Drive through December.
  • Route 28 1 – Work on the $4.8 million warning system for wrong-way drivers on Route 28 between Pittsburgh’s North Side and the Harmar exit will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at various locations Monday through Friday this week. The outbound off-ramp to the 40th Street Bridge will have shoulder restrictions while crews install the foundation for new road signs. The inbound and outbound ramps to Interstate 279/East Ohio Street will have single-lane and shoulder restrictions for conduit, wire and sign installation work. The warning system is expected to begin operating early next year.
  • Route 28 2 – Bridge-washing activities will cause a single-lane restriction outbound from 6 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday at the Russellton/Creighton interchange in East Deer.
  • Steubenville Pike – The highway will have a single-lane restriction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday between Old Steubenville Pike and Lorish Road in Robinson. Crews will be doing thermoplastic painting at the intersection with northbound Interstate 79 off-ramp.
  • Thompson Run Road – The Ross road will close at Thompson Run North Side Bridge No. 2 at 9 a.m. Monday until some time in November so crews can repair a bridge abutment. Two-way traffic will be maintained using stop signs. The bridge, which is rated in poor condition, carries an average of 16,520 motorists daily.
  • Parkway West –Overnight single-lane restrictions will be in place in both directions as needed between Campbells Run Road and the Interstate 79 interchange from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Monday night and lasting through mid-January. Crews will be repairing drains and installing signs, delineators and rumble strips. In addition, traffic will be shifted from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday on the ramp from the northbound interstate to the outbound Parkway West and from the southbound interstate to the inbound Parkway West. The shifts will allow workers to install delineators to mark the roadway. The work is part of a $12.6 million project to improve the highway between the Campbells Run Road and I-79 interchanges in Robinson and Collier.
  • Route 51 – The highway will have shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as needed through early December between the northbound and southbound on-ramps at the Interstate 79/Coraopolis/McKees Rocks interchange. Crews will be repairing piers carrying I-79 over the highway as part of the $33.9 million “S-Bend” project on I-79.
