The Fox Chapel girls faced the tall task of playing at unbeaten Plum on Monday, but by the end of the game, the Foxes were feeling just peachy.

Fox Chapel jumped to a double-digit first quarter lead and held on for a 48-43 non-section win.

It was a balanced scoring effort for Fox Chapel (4-1), which notched its fourth win in a row. Bella Barbour (13), Iyla Jablon (11), Elise Smith (9), Sarah Slember (9) and Bella Urso (6) accounted for all of Fox Chapel’s points.

Meanwhile, Plum (4-1) saw its perfect start come to a halt. The Mustangs didn’t go down without a fight, though. After trailing by 11 points at the half, they pulled with three points in the final minutes. Megan Marston scored a team-high 18 points.

Norwin girls rout Latrobe

Norwin (5-0) remained unbeaten after claiming a 59-21 win at Latrobe (4-2). The Knights outscored Latrobe, 21-0, in the third quarter and were led by Ava Kobus (17 points) and Kendall Berger (11). Kobus drilled five 3-pointers and Norwin had 10 triples overall. The Knights have limited each of their opponents to fewer than 30 points. Carly Beck scored eight points for Latrobe, which played without injured starters Emma Blair and Elle Snyder.

South Fayette girls win rematch

A rematch of last season’s WPIAL Class 5A championship produced the same winner. Defending champion South Fayette (4-0) stayed perfect while rolling to a 66-35 home win against Chartiers Valley (2-2). Four players scored in double figures for the Lions — Lainey Yater (14), Ava Leroux (13), Maddie Webber (13) and Ryan Oldaker (10). Lilah Turnbull paced the Colts with 11 points.

Peters girls roll

Peters Township (4-1) had little trouble getting past visiting West Mifflin (2-3), 69-38. The Indians led, 46-19, at halftime. Natalie Wetzel (19), Gemma Walker (16) and Brianna Morreale (11) scored in double figures for the Indians, while Shannon Conley led West Mifflin with 12 points.

List leads Beaver girls past EF

On the list of reasons why Beaver beat Elizabeth Forward, Chloe List sat at the top. List scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Bobcats (4-1) to a 48-29 win at Elizabeth Forward (2-3). Beaver also got a big game from Zoe Ringer, whose five 3-pointers accounted for all 15 of her points. Elizabeth Forward got nine points from Alyssa Terza.

Aquinas girls still unbeaten

Aquinas Academy upped its record to 5-0 courtesy of a 63-53 win against visiting Rochester (0-4). Aquinas led by 21 points at the half. Emily Fisher was the star for the Crusaders, knocking down six 3-pointers and scoring a game-high 24 points. Ellie Junker added 17 points. Tia Yellock led Rochester with 21 points. The Aquinas boys and girls are a combined 9-0 this season.

Rochester boys sizzle from the outside

Rochester raced to a win courtesy of a hot-shooting performance from behind the arc. The Rams (2-2) connected on 13 3-pointers in an 82-44 win against visiting Freedom (0-6). Xavier Rigby and Cayden Jacobs led the way with three triples apiece. Jerome Mullins scored a team-high 19 points and Rigby added 15. Nate DiNardo and Silas McCullough scored 10 each for Freedom.

*** — Madison Zavasky, Pine-Richland. Zavasky went off for a career-high 29 points while helping visiting Pine-Richland beat previously unbeaten Avonworth, 55-46. Zavasky is averaging 21 points a game.

** — Shaye Bailey, Freedom. Bailey poured in a game-high 28 points in a 57-32 home win against Quaker Valley. Bailey scored 12 points in the fourth quarter when Freedom outscored the Quakers, 23-4.

* — Cadin Olsen, Armstrong. After leading the WPIAL with 43 touchdown passes this fall, Olsen is off to a great start on the court. He scored 22 points while helping Armstrong improve to 5-1 by defeating visiting Perry, 65-32.
