Light rail service will be disrupted the next two weekends between Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s First Avenue and Steel Plaza stations.

Travel between the stations will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday each weekend.

Inbound riders from the South Hills will get off at First Avenue. From there, they can take a shuttle bus to the Steel Plaza station and get back on the light rail there.

Outbound trains from Downtown will stop at Steel Plaza and riders can board a bus to First Avenue if they want to continue on the light rail.

The closure will allow crews to repair concrete along the tracks near First Avenue. The agency said the work will be done only if the weather is dry.
