A Turtle Creek man tried to enter the federal building in Downtown Pittsburgh Thursday with three loaded guns, federal authorities say, although his intentions are not known.

Jeremy Foster Isaac, 42, appeared Friday afternoon before a federal magistrate in the U.S. courthouse across the street on a count of possession of a gun in a federal facility.

According to a U.S. Department of Homeland Security affidavit, agents were notified by a contract security officer who saw a gun in Isaac’s bag when it went through the X-ray machine.

A search turned up two loaded guns without holsters or any mechanisms protecting the triggers. The first was a 9 mm pistol with two extra magazines and a round in the chamber. The second was also a 9 mm with two magazines and a round in the chamber.

Agents gave Isaac two citations for having the weapons on federal property and a third for failure to follow the signs at the building.

About 20 minutes after being stopped, Isaac was being allowed to re-enter the building to report to his employer for the workday. But he had to complete the screening process since he didn’t have his ID. It’s not clear where he was headed or who is employer is.

But as he walked through the metal detector, the machine alerted to his right side and security found yet another gun in his pocket. This one was a .380 pistol loaded with a magazine containing six rounds.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Cynthia Reed Eddy allowed Isaac to remain free on a $10,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing on Feb. 22.
