Hundreds of protesters blocked traffic for several hours at Forbes Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard on the University of Pittsburgh’s Oakland campus Monday evening to protest a series of speakers invited to campus who activists say tout dangerous anti-transgender rhetoric.

At the time of the demonstration, the conservative student organization Turning Point USA was hosting an event featuring former college swimmer Riley Gaines, who advocates against the inclusion of transgender women in women’s sports.
