How do you say “thank you” to people who have donated tens of thousands of dollars to support and sustain you for more than a half a year?

Striking Pittsburgh news workers write cards by hand, stick stamps on the envelopes and mail them via the U.S. Postal Service.

On Thursday, after a fundraising in-person and Zoom meeting at strike HQ Downtown, Helen Fallon led a handful of other Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh strikers in making cards for people who have supported the Pittsburgh Striker Fund.

The fund, administered by the Newspaper Guild of Greater Philadelphia/TNG-CWA Local 38010, covers some expenses for workers in the guild as well as in the four production, advertising and transportation unions who went on strike in October 2022.

The strikers are continuing to work to raise funds for the effort, so they’ll be handwriting some more thank-you’s, too.
