It’s a tradition — Homewood residents head to the neighborhood’s streets every year to cheer and encourage the thousands of runners participating in the annual Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon.

Runners pass through 14 Pittsburgh neighborhoods, a tour that adds to the event’s charm. In each community, people turn out to participate, not by running but by voicing their support for those making their way along a 26.2-mile course. In that way, the race is a reflection of what makes Pittsburgh unique.
