Traffic will be interrupted in two parts of Homewood for a couple of days beginning Wednesday so Pittsburgh’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure can install speed tables to slow down traffic.

One table will be installed on Frankstown Avenue between North Dallas Avenue and North Murtland Street in Homewood West, and the other will be placed on Oakwood Avenue between Batavia and Mulford streets in Homewood South.

Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday to install the tables in the middle of the block. Flaggers will control one alternating lane of traffic during the work, which will include permanent signs and pavement markings to warn drivers about the tables.

Temporary no parking signs will be posted during the work.

The tables slow traffic by creating a raised flat surface that lifts the entire wheelbase of a vehicle. Traffic studies in the neighborhoods in 2021 showed more than 50% of motorists exceeded the speed limit of 25 miles an hour.
