Residents in Jefferson Hills and West Mifflin can find out where the next batch of construction on the Mon-Fayette Expressway will take place at an open house Wednesday night.

Officials from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, construction manager Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson Inc. and contractor Trumbull Corp. will discuss what will happen this spring from Coal Valley Road in Jefferson ills to north of Camp Hollow Road near Curry Hollow Road in West Mifflin. Trumbull has the $165.6 million contract for this section of the highway, which will run from Route 51 in Jefferson to Route 837 in West Mifflin when it is finished around 2028.

The open house will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the main ballroom at Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 3122 Lebanon Church Road, West Mifflin. Attendees should park at the rear of the building and enter the back doors.

Officials will give a short overview and have displays of construction areas for residents to look at and ask questions. They also will discuss future road closures, detours, blasting zones and additional construction-related information.

Construction on this 2-mile section of the toll road will include moving 4 million cubic yards of dirt, building five bridges and constructing a full intersection and two roundabouts at Camp Hollow Road.

Residents who are unable to attend the open house can view the project on the turnpike website and submit questions there.

The turnpike expects to open each section of the project as it is completed. The highway eventually is proposed to run to the Parkway East in Monroeville, but the turnpike doesn’t have enough funding to begin design of the northern section yet.
