More substantial restrictions are scheduled to begin Friday on McKnight Road in Pittsburgh’s North Hills as part of a $25.3 million improvement project.

Restrictions start at 9 a.m. Friday, when one of the three lanes will be closed in the northbound direction between the Evergreen Road/Babcock Boulevard interchange and just south of Braunlich Drive in Ross. That restriction will be in place continuously through 6 a.m. April 5.

Additionally, the same area will be reduced to one lane of traffic from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The restrictions are needed while crews for Lindy Paving Inc. do drainage and slope erosion work. Motorists will be able to get to businesses in that corridor.

The project, which will last until spring 2025, will include a number of other restrictions along the way as crews do milling and paving work and other improvements between Venture Street in Pittsburgh and Perrymont Road in McCandless. Other traffic disruptions will include a 12-day closure of the Nelson Run Road interchange, two weekend closures at the Venture Street intersection, two crossovers at the Evergreen Road/Babcock Boulevard interchange, and several overnight ramp closures for paving operations and structure repairs.

The improvements will include bridge and culvert preservation, drainage improvements, pipe cleaning, guide rail and water line replacement, installing new signs and upgrading traffic signals.

Additional work will be done on the Evergreen Road/Babcock Boulevard ramps.
