Plenty of roadwork is scheduled this weekend. Here’s the rundown.
- Pennsylvania Turnpike – Part of the turnpike will be closed from midnight to 6 a.m. between Irwin and Pittsburgh the next two Sundays for drain cleaning, roadway sealing and sweeping. This weekend, the closure will be on the westbound lanes, and on May 4 the eastbound lanes will be closed. Detours will be posted, and Pennsylvania State Police and turnpike personnel will be positioned in the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs also will provide information.
- Interstate 279 – The Parkway North will have single-lane restrictions between the Chestnut Street/East Ohio Street/Etna off-ramp and the East Ohio Street overpass on Pittsburgh’s North Side from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for inspection work. Also, the ramp from southbound Route 28 to southbound I-279 will have traffic shifted and the lane narrowed for inspection work during the same time period.
- Route 50 – Single-lane restrictions will occur in both directions on Washington Pike in Collier from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday between Interstate 79 and Mayer Street. Crews will be widening the pavement in that area as part of a $5.6 million project to widen the road to create exclusive left turn lanes at Vanadium Road.
- McKnight Road – Northbound lane restrictions will occur from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday between Ross Park Mall Drive and the Browns Lane/Johnanna Drive intersection in Ross. Crews will be repairing a West View Water Authority waterline.
- Liberty Tunnel – The outbound side of the tunnel will be closed from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday while crews flush drains.
