Three Pittsburgh Union Progress staff members are finalists in Pittsburgh Black Media Federation’s Robert L. Vann Media Awards. Among the nods is Alexandra Wimley’s photograph, above, of Imani Christian players lifting their coach in celebration of winning the WPIAL Class 1A championship game in February 2024.
Winners of the Vann awards will be announced at PBMF’s “A Night of Excellence” dinner 6 p.m. June 4 at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, 980 Liberty Ave., Downtown. Information about the dinner can be found at www.pbmf.org.
PUP also has 10 nominations in the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania’s 61st Golden Quill Awards. Those winners will be announced at a dinner and program on May 28 at Rivers Casino on the North Shore.
