A couple of major road projects are nearing completion, but a couple of others are starting this week. Here’s what to expect:

  • Interstate 79 — The highway will have single-lane restrictions between the Neville Island Bridge and the Route 51/Coraopolis/McKees Rocks interchange from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through June 27 as crews finish work on the $43.9 million project. Work will include sealing the surface and finishing punch-list items identified during inspection of completed work.
  • McKnight Road — This $27 million project also is nearing completion with overnight single-lane restrictions from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Monday and lasting through late June between Perrymont Road in McCandless and Venture Street on Pittsburgh’s North Side. Concrete work and punch-list items are among the remaining tasks.
  • Patton Street — The Monroeville road will close beginning 9 a.m. Monday through late September between Monroeville Boulevard and Mount Pleasant Drive. The closure is required while crews build a retaining wall, pave the road, improve drainage and replace signs, pavement markings and guide rails. About 8,200 drivers use the road daily. Detours will be posted and residents will have access to their homes.
  • Rainbow Run Road — The bridge over Becket Run in Forward will close at 7:30 a.m. Monday through the end of August so it can be replaced. The road will be closed at the Ella Hollow Road intersection for the $1.92 million project. Work will include improving the bridge approaches, building a retaining wall and improving guide rails. There will be different posted detours for cars, trucks and bicyclists.
  • Route 51 — Single-lane overnight restrictions will be in place Monday through Friday in West Mifflin and Pleasant Hills this week. The restrictions will limit traffic between East Bruceton and Lebanon Church roads while crews do patching work as part of a $19.8 million project. Work will last until 2028 between Stewart Avenue in Pittsburgh and Peters Creek Road in Jefferson Hills.
  • 31st Bridge — The bridge across the Allegheny River between Lawrenceville and Route 28 in Pittsburgh will have single-lane alternating traffic for inspection work this week. The work is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Liberty Bridge — The bridge will have inbound lane restrictions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to allow crews to inspect the structure.
