As if crews didn’t have enough to do, recent weather has created additional challenges this weekend for road and trail users. Here’s what to expect:

  • Campbells Run Road –Thursday’s storms flooded Campbells Run Road in Robinson, and the section between Keiners Lane and Baldwin Road will remain closed until Allegheny County officials assess the damage and make repairs. The county said the high water left debris on the road and undermined a section that had just been paved earlier in the day. Crews were expected to work overnight to clear the debris, and Friday morning they will assess the damage and begin milling and repaving the damaged area. It’s not clear how long the road will remain closed.
  • Riverfront Trail – Several blocks of the trail along the Ohio River in the Chateau neighborhood will be closed while the surface is repaired after damage caused by erosion. Pittsburgh officials said the trail was closed Thursday between Branchport and North Franklin streets to all pedestrian and bike traffic until repairs can be made. In a news release, Mayor Ed Gainey said the city would be “moving quickly to find a solution and get this vital trail reopened as soon as possible.” A detour using Metropolitan Street will be posted.
  • Parkway East – Bridge inspections will cause single-lane traffic restrictions from 6 a.m. to noon in Edgewood, Wilkinsburg and Churchill on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, crews will inspect outbound bridges and on Sunday they will work on the inbound side. All ramps will remain open. (Work on and around Rodi Road and Penn Hills ramps, part of the $70.1 million improvement of the Parkway East from Churchill to Monroeville, is canceled due to weather).
  • Parkway West – The highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday between the Ridge Road and Interstate 79 interchanges in Robinson and Collier while crews place a latex overlay on the bridge over Boyce Road. The work is part of a $12.6 million improvement project between the interchanges.
  • Interstate 279 – The right-hand lane and shoulder on the northbound side of the highway will be restricted between Chestnut Street and the East Ohio Street overpass from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Crews will be making repairs to bridge piers.
  • Sewickley Bridge – The bridge will be limited to single-lane alternating traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for bridge inspection.
