Favorable weather has allowed Pugliano Construction Co. to finish work replacing three small bridges in Forward two months ahead of schedule.
Allegheny County said Tuesday that work on Fallen Timber Run bridges No. 5, 6 and 7 has been completed and traffic restrictions have been lifted on Roberts Hollow and Warren Hill roads. Worked had started in March on bridges 5 and 7, limiting traffic between Warren Hill and Wall roads and on Bridge 6 started on Warren Hill Road in August and had been expected to last into December.
But the new bridges are in place, and crews have completed additional tasks that included roadway work, utility work, pavement markings and guide rail replacement as part of the $1.4 million project. All three bridges had been rated in poor condition.
Several other projects will begin in the next couple of days:
- Interstate 79 – Work that had been scheduled to start on Wednesday to place barriers on the southbound portion of the highway in Marshall and Franklin Park has been postponed until Thursday. There will be single-lane restrictions on the highway from 7 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday and from 7 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday from Mingo Road to about 1.5 miles north of the I-79-Interstate 279 split. The work is part of the $46.5 million project to rebuild the Wexford interchange by moving the northbound exit ramp about 1,000 feet to the west to ease congestion on Route 910.
- Route 88 – The roadway will have single-lane alternating traffic overnight on weeknights from the Washington County line to Corrigan Drive in Bethel Park and South Park Township for about a week beginning Wednesday. Crews will work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to pave the road through Tuesday night. Work also could occur on Saturday.
- Pittsburgh-McKeesport Boulevard – A single-lane northbound restriction will be in place around the clock between Fleetwood Manor Road and Bettis Road in Dravosburg through late December while a contractor for Peoples Gas installs a sub-surface gas facility.
- Fort Pitt Bridge – The outbound bridge will have a single-lane restriction from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday while crews conduct electrical work.
- Parkway East – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has postponed work to continue installing a high-friction surface treatment in both directions between Squirrel Hill and Oakland that had been set for 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday. The work, which would have caused lane restrictions, will be rescheduled.
