Crews are putting the final touches on several projects as construction season nears the end. Here’s what to expect this week:

  • Route 50 – The roadway will have restrictions during all weekday times not designated rush hours through late November between the Interstate 79 interchange and Mayer Street as crews work to finish a $5.6 million project. There will be single-lane restrictions from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday to install signs, make side road adjustments and complete a variety of punch list items remaining after most of the project has been completed. The project widened the road to allow exclusive left-turn lanes at the intersection with Vanadium Road, which also was redesigned to eliminate dual driveways at Eat’n Park and the former Peter’s Place.
  • Route 28 1 – A variety of work will take place this week as part of the $4.8 million installation of a system to warn drivers going the wrong way between Anderson Street on Pittsburgh’s North Side and the Harmar interchange. Work will include single-lane restrictions on southbound Route 28 at Anderson from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday to install conduit and the foundation for a road sign, shoulder restrictions from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday on northbound Route 28 at the left-hand off-ramp at the Interstate 279 north-East Ohio Street exit, and shoulder restrictions at the southbound off-ramp to the 31st Street Bridge from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday for sign installation. Crews also will test the system from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday, causing stoppages of 15 minutes or less at the southbound off-ramp to I-279-East Ohio Street; the northbound off-ramps to the 31st Street Bridge, Etna, Route 8 south toward the Fleming Bridge; and the northbound ramp to Blawnox. The system will open early next year.
  • Route 28 2 – Repairing digital signs will cause single-lane traffic restrictions on the northbound side of the road in Sharpsburg on Wednesday and O’Hara on Thursday. The work will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday between the Fox Chapel/Waterworks Drive/Freeport Road and Blawnox interchanges and Thursday between the Route 8 and Highland Park/Aspinwall interchanges.
  • Route 910 – Crews will begin a pipe replacement and rock slope construction project Monday between Cedar Ridge Road in West Deer and Cedar Run Road in Indiana Township. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, resulting in single-lane alternating traffic controlled by flaggers through Nov. 21.
  • Parkway East 1 – The highway will have weeknight single-lane lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday and lasting through mid-November between the Birmingham Bridge and the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. That will allow crews to replace or repair concrete median barriers.
  • Parkway East 2 – Utility work will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, causing the right-hand lane and shoulder to be closed between the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and the Edgewood-Swissvale exit. The work is part of the $95.1 million project to replace the Commercial Street Bridge just outside the east end of the tunnel.
  • Boyce Road – Work to make drainage improvements and clean shoulders has been extended Monday through Thursday between the inbound Parkway West on-ramp and Campbells Run Road. Work began last week with crews on the job from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. The work is part of a $12.6 million project on Campbells Run and Interstate 79.
  • Route 65 – The highway’s ramp from southbound Route 65 to the Fort Duquesne Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday this week for bridge deck and barrier repair. The ramps from Allegheny Avenue/Ridge Avenue/Reedsdale Street to the bridge also will be closed. As a reminder, single-lane restrictions will occur as needed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through late December to allow crews to repair concrete on the underneath side of the Fort Pitt Bridge on General Robinson and Reedsdale streets and Tony Dorsett and North Shore drives.
